Ángel López Gómez

Angel is a native Tsotsil and Spanish speaker born in 1985 in Bochil, Chiapas Mexico. Being his father a musician and his mother fond of singing, Angel always had an interest in artistic activities, learning to play the guitar at an early age. With the passage of time his love for music led him to form a rock, reggae and funk band. Upon completing his preparatory studies, Angel moved to San Cristobal de Las Casas to enter the Bachelor in Intercultural Communication at the Intercultural University of Chiapas. At the same time he joined a civil association that works with young Tzeltals and Tsotsiles in Los Altos de Chiapas, where he carried out the audiovisual record and gave workshops.

It was in these years that Angel discovered his interest in documentary film, which led him to join different workshops, courses and graduates. In 2017 he participated in the Diploma taught by the Documentary Film School of San Cristóbal de Las Casas, making the short documentary "Majt'anil" (The Legacy) that finished its postproduction in 2018.

Currently, Angel is dedicated to independent audiovisual production. He seeks to combine his taste for music and documentary by exploring the forms of creation and life of the young musicians of Tzeltal and Tsotsil.
