TERRA NOSTRA FILMS

Terra Nostra Films was born from 10 years of experience in documentary film production, primarily in Mexico. This experience has given us the conviction that cinema, particulary the documentary film, is a unique way to discover the world that surrounds us while allows share encounters, loves and fears. We believe documentaries allow to “inhabit” the world we live in and discover its multiple faces.

We don’t want enclose ourselves in a single esthetic, but instead open up the possibility, in each project, to look for the most adecuate way to express the world we live. Nevertheless, we consider that a key element of the work of the documentary filmmaker and cinematographer resides in the relationship that is built with the people who share with us the journey of making the film, by giving voice and face to the stories they tell. We are not looking the distant study of “real cases”, but instead find empathy and understanding with those who invite us to share in their reality and their dreams.

We began with a series of 10 short documentaries that were made primarily in the northwestern part of Mexico over the last three years. Other projects have been written to be filmed in Mexico and other latitudes. It is quite possible that they will be distinct in their style and genre, but faithful to the fundamental teaching of cinema as a journey to discover the others.
